Ali Hoffman is a painter based in Salem, MA.

Primarily working in oil on panel, her paintings aim to express the emotions and vulnerabilities of living in a body—particularly in her own.

After studying painting in college, Ali pivoted to a career in graphic design & creative direction. In a return to painting, her work is heavily influenced by years of design: color is the starting point of her process and cropping & layout are highly intentional.

As a woman who has experienced a multitude of challenges relating to her physicality: alopecia, disordered eating, and fertility struggles among them—Ali is driven to explore these complexities in her art. She works to both celebrate the juicy ripeness of the body, and hold space for the pain and discomfort that many humans find familiar.
